The founder and director of SolidVets is Terry Rorison. Terry is an Army Veteran whose two years service was spent teaching trainees how to read. After his service, Terry spent a number of years as an educator setting up education programs in several state prisons and attended graduate school at the University of Pittsburgh and Ohio University.
For over twenty years Terry manufactured architectural terra cotta for both historic structures and new construction. He then spent fifteen years in the high tech industry in a management capacity. He has developed skills in 2D and 3D design and learned to apply those skills in both additive and subtractive manufacturing. He has been on the founding boards of directors of three successful non-profits in addition to actively supporting other community focused non-profits.
He founded SolidVets as a non-profit organization in 2017 to assist transitioning Veterans in learning digital design skills that will lead to their employment in manufacturing companies. SolidVets operates under the fiscal sponsorship of NextTech Pgh, a non-profit registered with the IRS as a 501 (c) 3 organization. NextTech Pgh can receive tax deductible donations to support the SolidVets program.
